Marion Dalley Harding, 95 of St. Anthony, died Sunday, October 11, 2015 peacefully at his home.
He was born August 17, 1920 at Mud Lake, Idaho to Leonard Marion and Emma Mabel Dalley Harding. He received his schooling in Montana and Idaho Falls and graduated from the eighth grade.
He enlisted in the Army in 1938 and then after Pearl Harbor he enlisted in the Coast Guard. While he was stationed at Fort Douglas in Salt Lake City, he met Letha Mae Walker who was from Idaho Falls. They married on December 10, 1943 in Farmington, Utah. They divorced in 1980. Marion then married Sandra Lynn Singleton in St. Anthony, in 1983.
He learned hard work at an early age farming and ranching with his father in Mud Lake and at Armstead, Montana. He continued hard work as a hod carrier for Glen Davis and then took up the trade of butcher working for Fae's IGA in Idaho Falls, and Dee's IGA in Rexburg.
Marion then went to work for the Sugar Salem School District as a bus driver and custodian where he was appreciated by faculty and students alike "Omar J. Rug Rat". It was from Sugar Salem School District that he retired.
In his retirement with his wife Sandee he acquired some property on Colson Creek at Shoup, Idaho. Gardening and developing the property with fruit trees and took pride in its appearance.
They also built their home together where they learned to read a tape measure.
He had a love for the Lord and lead a life of service to others. He enjoyed the scriptures right up until his last day.
He is survived by his children, Richard and Susan Harding of Ogden, UT; Patricia and Heber Olsen of Snohomish, WA; Darlene and Steven Brown of Monroe, UT; Wayne Harding of Ucon, ID; Susan and Kim Sorensen of Idaho Falls, ID; Dale and Kellie Harding of Mountain Green, UT; Ron and Gayla Harding of Rigby, ID; Destry and Kari Wolbert of Pocatello, ID; and Kordell Wolbert of Boise, ID; a sister, Iretta and Bob Rapp of Idaho Falls, ID; 38 grandchildren, 78 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, two brothers a son Kent and 2 wives.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Bert Flamm Mortuary (581 E. 1st N., St. Anthony). The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. and Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. both at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery in Idaho Falls.
The family would like to thank dear friends Diane Galston and Gary Hockenbery for their wonderful friendship and tender care of Marion. They will forever be an important part of our family and lives.
