Obituary

Marjorie Minnie Poulson Liljenquist, 88, passed away at her home on Thursday, January 19, 2017, from cancer. She was born September 16, 1928 in St. Anthony, to Harold Paul and Ella May Gould Poulson, the second of two daughters. She grew up in Kilgore and Salem, graduating from Sugar-Salem High School in 1946.

On June 3, 1948, she married Vern Liljenquist and they made their home in Rexburg. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple in 1979. Marjorie worked for the Mountain Bell telephone office in Rexburg as an operator through the early 1950s as she began raising her family.

She enjoyed bowling and tennis, cooking, gardening, sewing and traveling. She served as a Pink Lady at Madison Memorial Hospital. In 1985-86, she served an LDS mission with her husband to Washington, D.C., where they assisted Cambodian and Laotian refugees settling into the United States.

She is survived by her husband, sister Venice May Browning, and children, Vern (Susan) Liljenquist of West Jordan, Utah, Shauna (Mark) Shaltry of Boise, Bob (Tim) Liljenquist of West Hartford, Connecticut, and Brad (Shelley) Liljenquist of Alpine, Utah. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and infant grandson, Nicholas M. Shaltry.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon Monday, January 23rd at the Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg. The family will receive friends from 11:00 to 11:45 a.m. at the funeral home prior to services. Interment will be in the Rexburg Cemetery.
