Our beloved father, son and brother, Mark Charles Blaser, 47, passed away after a courageous eight month battle with Acute Myeloma Leukemia; he died Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at the LDS hospital in Salt Lake City. Mark was born September 17,1963 at Rexburg to Roland P. and Carol Parkinson Blaser. He graduated in 1981 from Sugar-Salem High School. He was valedictorian and played basketball. He attended Ricks College then received a Masters degree in Political Science from Brigham Young University in 1988. Mark is an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a mission to Vienna Austria 1982-1984. He is an Eagle Scout and has served as a Sunday school teacher and Elder's Quorum president. Mark was a partner in Blaser Sandy Sage Farms working with dad Roland and brothers Eric and David. He especially enjoyed driving the combine to harvest grain. Mark resigned in November after serving over 12 years on the Sugar-Salem School Board. He enjoyed many sports, puzzles and Sudoku but, his favorite activity was supporting anything his children were involved in. He love his children.
Mark married Amber Rains February 2, 1985 and they later divorced. He is survived by his children, all of Rexburg; Kelvin J. (Julie) Blaser, Kasandra D. (Randy) Hunter, Christopher C. Blaser (serving an LDS mission in Guam), Julissa M. Blaser, Kelli B. Blaser, Braydon M. Blaser, Zachary C. Blaser, Nathan T. Blaser, his father, Roland P. Blaser of Rexburg and siblings; Peggy (Rob) Hymas of Rexburg, Tamara (David) Horsley of Jackson, Wyoming, Eric (Liz) Blaser of Rexburg, David (Cindy) Blaser of Rexburg, Carolyn (Daniel) Medina of Mountain Home, ID and Jon (Candace) Blaser of Mechanicsville, Virginia. He is preceded in death by his mother Carol P. Blaser.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 13, 2010 at the Plano LDS Church with Bishop Randy Brown officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg and Monday at the church from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services.
