Mark Edward Joncas, 66, passed away peacefully at his home in Rexburg, Idaho, on March 13, 2026. He was born on March 30, 1959, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Edward Francis Joncas and Gloria Lucy (Trolla) Joncas. In 1981, he married the love of his life, Melanie (Wescott) Joncas, and they would have celebrated 45 years of marriage this May.
Mark graduated from Father Judge High School in 1977 and later attended the American Institute of Drafting, where he met Melanie in 1979. After completing his studies, he transitioned into a successful career in hydraulic sales, a path that took his family across the country and allowed him to build many lasting friendships. His influence was felt by colleagues, customers, and friends wherever he lived.
A convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Mark’s faith in God shaped every aspect of his life. He devoted decades to ministering and serving in various leadership roles, always striving to uplift and support those around him. Through his example, he taught his children the values of hard work, integrity, resilience, loyalty, and deep love for family.
Mark took great pride in his Italian heritage and his Philadelphia roots. He cherished the city’s culture, food, and sports—especially cheering on his beloved Eagles. A gifted storyteller, he delighted in sharing memories from his childhood with his children and grandchildren.
Mark is survived by his wife, Melanie; their six children—Aaron M. Joncas, Leah J. Anglesey, Jared N. Joncas, Seth E. Joncas, Nathan P. Joncas, and Joseph P. Joncas; thirteen grandchildren; and his siblings, Denise Spinelli and Gregory Joncas.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 21st at the Mill Hollow chapel 315 Gary Dr, Rexburg ID 83440.
