Mark Albert Nelson, age 43, passed away on March 5, 2015 at his home under the care of his parents and The Alpine Hospice Group. Mark fought a lengthy and courageous battle with Huntington's Disease.
Mark was born April 28,1972. Five days later on May 3, 1972 he became the adopted and much loved son of Albert Jay and Joan Petersen Nelson. He lived with his family on a farm in Clementsville during the summers and when he started school, moved to Teton City for the winters. Mark lived in Teton and Clementsville during different parts of the year until he finished his studies at Wyoming Technical Institute and married. Mark attended Teton Elementary as a child, South Fremont Jr. High and Sugar City High School as a teenager. After graduating from high school in 1990 Mark completed studies at Wyoming Technical Institute where he received an Associate of Science degree in diesel mechanics and business management.
Mark married Kimberly Parkinson in 1992. They were later divorced. Chelsey Brianne and Broc Taryn were born to that union. Family was the most important thing in the world to Mark.
Mark enjoyed working as a mechanic. He worked as a mechanic at Beddes Equipment in St. Anthony, Gary Gherrings farm in American Falls as a machinery and diesel mechanic, Caterpillar Equipment and Tranes Diesel in Idaho Falls until Huntington's Disease forced him to retire.
Mark loved fixing up old cars, hunting with both bow and rifle, fishing, and camping with his family. He especially liked to take his children elk hunting where he taught his son to call elk using only his voice. The outdoors was truly Mark's playground.
Mark learned to make knives that were both beautiful and functional. He made many hunting knives, pocket knives, and even a machetti. These knives were given to cousins, uncles and his son and daughter. He made a set of kitchen knives for his mom that is treasured.
