Marlene and her twin brother, Marlow, were born in Cardston, Alberta, Canada on November 26, 1930. She grew up in Glenwood and Lethbridge, Alberta Canada. She loved singing, dancing, and riding horses. She graduated from Lethbridge High School with a secretarial and bookkeeping degree, allowing her to gain employment as a secretary for a local law firm in Lethbridge before moving to the Salt Lake City, Utah in 1950. There she attended LDS Business College and worked for McBroom and Hanni, Attorneys-at-law until 1954.
In 1954 she was swept off her feet when her sweetheart and best friend proposed. While engaged they both served missions for their church. Marlene served in South Africa. On December 21, 1956, they were married in the Salt Lake Temple. Upon Gale's graduation from University of Utah, they moved to St. Anthony, ID to raise their family.
Marlene served in many callings within her church. Her Christlike example of service and love to all she met left an imprint on many hearts.
For 45 years she loved singing with the Melodaires choral group in St. Anthony. She was known for her contagious laugh and lifted all those who met her.
Marlene's pride and joy is her family. Thank you mom, grandma, and GG for the many lessons you taught simply by the way you lived.
