Obituary

Mary Ann Beck
Mary Ann Beck, 72, of Rexburg, passed away on Feb. 26, 2013, at Madison Memorial Hospital of a sudden illness.

Mary Ann was born on Oct. 14, 1940 in Rexburg, Idaho, to Otto G. Beck and Anna Marie (Mary) Beck. She was raised on a farm one mile southwest of Rexburg, ID.

She attended elementary schools, graduating from Madison High School and going on to Ricks College where she graduated with an Associate's degree in education.

She worked very hard on the family farm by driving tractor and truck for her father in the hay fields. She was very close to her father and mother because she was so much younger than her half sister Rowena by 15 years.
Mary Ann worked at Ricks College, part-time, as a custodian while attending school.

After receiving her degree, she also worked in the Registrar's Office, part-time, for seven years. She did telemarketing work for the Standard Journal in the classified ad department. In September, 1995, she started work for the Jefferson Star newspaper doing telemarketing.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She participated in the primary, was a council officer, fireside chairman, edited the news bulletin, and ward historian along with many other various callings and associations. She had a strong testimony of the Gospel and always served in her Ward and Stake to the best of her ability.

She loved fishing, working, and going to the movies with her father while she was young. Mary Ann enjoyed visiting Yellowstone Park with her friends and just being outdoors. She enjoyed traveling to New York to visit her sister, Rowena. Mary Ann loved to learn and would spend many hours at the Madison County Library. She loved meeting new people and listening to their stories. She would always look forward to the holidays so she could spend time with her relatives at Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Due to Mary Ann's disability, when she was born, many things were very difficult for her. But she always seemed to face the challenge and then conquer with pride.

Mary Ann is survived by her half sister Rowena Bresee and nephews Charles E. Bresee and Gary Beck Bresee who all of Albany, New York, and many cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents and a sister.
