Obituary

Maria Magdalena Robles Hill, aka Mary to many, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 3, 2025, following a five-year battle with Parkinson's. She fought her illness privately without fanfare or fuss.

Mary was born on December 19, 1952 to Antonio and Zulema Robles in San Benito, Texas. It was a homebirth delivered by her Paternal Grandmother, who was a midwife. She was the third child of ten brothers and sisters.  She had a close-knit family that shaped her life and remained a source of strength and joy. Her family moved to Idaho when she was about six years old. She attended school in Teton where the family first settled later moving to St. Anthony where she lived her entire life. She graduated from South Fremont High school in 1971.  She also attended Rick's College for a time. After graduation she worked in the local potato warehouses, JC Penney's, a teacher's aide to migrant children as she was fluent in Spanish as it was her native language. She was proud of her Mexican heritage. Then finally at the Fremont County Sheriff's Department where she retired from.

She was a fearless and courageous and never shied away from standing up for what she believed in. This courage and fearlessness came as result of the responsibility thrust upon her in being a spokesman for her parents, especially her mother, who was not fluent in English. They were forever thankful for her devoted sacrifice and assistance.

Mary was married to Dan Hill on November 25, 1977. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple. They raised four children, Kory (Jody), Hailey (Aaron), Jake (Katherine), Kiefer (Bekah) as well as 11 grandchildren whom she dearly loved. She is also survived by her sisters, Sylvia (Steve), Rosa (Rick), Leticia (Alan), brothers, Tony (Yanet), Jose (Holly), Javier, Jerry (Lisa), Ricardo (Kathy), Cindy (Dusty), and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving parents.

She was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, living her faith through generosity, kindness and service. Over the years she faithfully served in many callings offering her time and talents to strengthen her ward and community.

At an early age she discovered reading, which brought her great joy and peace throughout her life. She was adventurous and loved traveling, especially to Mexico with her parents.  She and Dan would also go on many Sunday drives as well as many family camp outs. Her grandchildren would look forward to these annual campouts with her every year. After retiring she discovered cruising which she took advantage of when ever they arose.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Homesteads Hospice and Susie Lacy for their compassionate care. Heartfelt appreciation also to Carriage Cove staff who cared for her lovingly the last three months of her life.
