Mary Lou McKenna born March 5, 1928 in Tetonia, Idaho. She passed away at the Homestead Care Center June 13, 2018. Mary Lou was the ninth child of Christian Niels and Mary Ann Mickelsen.
Mary Lou grew up in the Teton Basin and attended high school in St. Anthony. She met DeLoy McKenna while working at the Hoopes farm. They were later married January 24, 1949 in Vancouver, Washington and lived in the Portland area. They later moved to California for DeLoy's work.
Mary Lou joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, they were sealed in the Los Angeles LDS Temple in 1956.
She loved serving in the Relief Society, making quilts, crafts and feed whom ever walked through her door. She served as a Relief Society President several times and had various stake callings.
In 1978 DeLoy and MaryLou moved back to their home in Rexburg, Idaho to retire. DeLoy continued to build homes in the Rexburg area. They served 2 missions for the LDS Church, one mission in the Philippines, and the other North Carolina.
Following their missions they would spend the winters in Overton, Nevada where they would fish and rock hunt. The summers were spent in Sugar City. She loved spending time attending the temple with her sister and doing genealogy and extration with DeLoy.
She is survived by her children, Gloria (Bob) Jorissen of Port Angeles, Washington, Rodney (Marian) of West Jordon, Utah, Sheldon (Elizabeth) of Pocetello, Idaho, Corine (Kevin) Seamons of Covington, Washington, Sharon (Marlow) Blanchard of Rigby, Idaho, Ross (Claudia) Wilson, 36 grandkids, 72 great grandkids and 1 great great grandson.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at the Sugar 7th Ward LDS Chapel in Sugar City, 6 North Teton Avenue. The family will receive friends Monday evening at the church from 5:30 to 7:00 and again on Tuesday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Rexburg Cemetery.
