Mathew Hyrum Armstrong passed away on Monday, January 7, 2013 at the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls from a sudden illness. He was born July 9, 1937 at Annis, Idaho to Grace Campbell Armstrong and William Armstrong. He attended schools in Madison County and Ricks College.
He met and the love of his life, Ruth Ludlow, in 1963 on a blind date. They were married March 6,1964. He worked at several jobs starting a Idahoan Foods in October of 1968. He worked as a boiler operator for several years. Then as a sanitation supervisor. He retired on July 5, 2011.
Matt was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved the outdoors and camping, riding 4 wheelers were his favorite summertime activities. He also loved his farm and his cows.
He loved spending time with his family. He spent a lot of time working with his son Bill in his small engine repair shop. He also loved to watch his grandchildren.
He was a tease and had a wonderful sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife Ruth, daughter Donna (Alan) Chandler and son Bill (Valerie) Armstrong, a sister Elaine (Farrell) Krupp.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and a son.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 11, 2013 at the Burton LDS Chapel (2000 South 4000 West) with Bishop Ken McCluskey officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday at the Flamm Funeral home from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. and one hour prior to services at the church in burton before the services. Interment will be in the Burton Cemetery with military ristes.
