Maxine Hobbs Burt, 90, of St. Anthony passed away Saturday, March 14, 2015 at the St. Anthony Homestead Assisted Living Center from natural causes.
She was born December 11, 1924 at Twin Groves, Idaho to Ernest William Hobbs and Mabel Eliza Abegglen. She was raised in St. Anthony, and graduated from high school at South Fremont. She married Cyril Osborn Burt March 20, 1946 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
Maxine was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many capacities. Maxine and Cyril worked as officiators in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple and served a mission in San Jose, California.
Maxine was a master at sewing, crocheting, knitting and other needlework. She was an amazing mother and devoted her life to raising her children. Her grandchildren all have a great love and respect for their Grandmother.
She is survived by her children, Kathleen (Wes) Donahoo of Rexburg, Kristine (Jack) Salmon of Raymond Alberta Canada, Kenneth (Dixie) Burt, of Rexburg, Stephen (Darla) Burt, of Rexburg, Susan (Craig) Hammond, of Ashton, Marilyn (Larry) Stone, of Parker, Sister, Ada Ostermiller of St. Anthony, sisters-in-law, Rachel Hobbs of Chubbuck, ID, Susie Burt of Tulsa, OK, brothers-in-law, Jim Jolley of Las Vegas, NV and Sharon Swensen of Blackfoot. She enjoyed 20 grandsons, and 16 granddaughters, 41 great-grandsons and 47 great-granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, 3 sisters; husband, Cyril; son, William Cyril "Billy" Burt; grandson, David Lee Hammond; and great-granddaughter, Mary Ethne Stone.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 20, 2015, which is Maxine and Cyril's 69th wedding anniversary, at the St. Anthony 2nd Ward building with Bishop Brent Thompson officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 19, 2015 at the St. Anthony 2nd Ward Building, and Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Interment will be at the Parker Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Bert Flamm Mortuary.
