Maxine P. Stewart, 96, a longtime resident of the Wilford area passed away on November 8, 2024. She was born in the family home in Twin Groves, Idaho on April 22, 1928. She was the fourth child of Erastus Parley Peterson and Daisy Adell Richards. She grew up on the farm in Twin Groves and attended school in Twin Groves. She graduated from St. Anthony High School and went on to Montana State College in Bozeman Montana and Ricks college in Rexburg Idaho.
She married Grant Edward Stewart on April 12, 1950 in the Idaho Falls Temple. They lived most of their married lives in the Wilford area.
Maxine created a warm and loving home and raised 6 children. She was an excellent cook and seamstress and she worked with Grant on their farm in Wilford. Maxine was a compassionate caregiver for their aging parents and other family members and anyone in need.
She served in many church callings and had a strong testimony of the Gospel, She and Grant served as ordinance workers in the Idaho Falls Temple for many years.
She is survived by her 6 children, Kathleen Greenhalgh, Judeen Swensen (Dale), James G. Stewart, Anne Rasmussen (Rocky), Lori Jo Searcy (Robert), Will G. Stewart (Wylette). She was preceded in death by her husband Grant Edward Stewart and one sister, Eloise Daniel and two brothers, Thomas Richard Peterson and Keith Erastus Peterson and her son-in-law, Dennis Greenhalgh.
A small family graveside service will be held on November 11, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Wilford Church with Bishop Brian Bartschi officiating. Burial will be in the Wilford cemetery under the direction of Bert Flamm Mortuary.
