Melba Liljenquist Watson, 98, of Hibbard, passed away Saturday, June 23, 2018 at her daughter's home.

Melba was born on October 25, 1919 in McCammon, Idaho. She was the third of nine children born to Warren Liljenquist and Lena May Ward Liljenquist. Melba bravely and gracefully endured many challenges throughout her life, and had the unshakable faith to endure all things. She had a positive and cheerful nature. She always said that she had the choice to be happy or unhappy so she would choose to be happy.

Her first grade teacher thought she was so bright that she moved her to third grade, skipping second grade. She always had a curious mind and a sharp intellect. She was her high school graduating class valedictorian and graduated from LDS Business College in Salt Lake City. She worked for many years as an administrative assistant.


She married Durward Lamont Watson and raised five children in Boise, Idaho. Her family was her greatest joy in life.



She also enjoyed crossword puzzles; the harder, the better. She would dream about them at night and the next morning she would wake up knowing some of the answers that had stumped her the day before. She did The New York Times crossword puzzle into her late 80's.



Melba kept busy and happy to the very end, always looking for ways to cheer others. She was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and had a strong testimony of the Savior throughout her life.



She had five children - Linda, Karen, Don, Barbara and Robert. She also had 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.



We will miss her sweet spirit and unwavering example of love and strength of character.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the Parker Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.flammfh.com.
