Merlynn Thompson passed peacefully on Wednesday, July 19 at the Homestead Assisted Living in Rexburg, Idaho.

Merlynn was born April 2, 1936 in Parker, Idaho. She was the oldest of 3 children born to Irvin and Vae Mace.

Merlynn grew up and went to school in Parker, she had a lot of cousins and friends there with a lot of wonderful memories. Her favorite was being with her dad being his helper on the farm.

Merlynn went to South Fremont High School where she was the Sweetheart Ball Queen and a cheerleader. There she met her sweetheart Gary Thompson. After high school they were married in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on November 12, 1954.

Together they raised 4 children Broc (Lisa) Thompson of Rexburg; Brenda (Max) Siddoway of Teton; Melanie Roebuck of South Jordan, UT; Trenna (Justin) Belka of San Diego, CA.
They had 15 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

Merlynn is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served in many church callings Merlynn and Gary's favorite calling was the nursery. Merlynn and Gary served two missions Hawaii and Cove Fort.

Merlynn worked for Dr. Mix, Florences and Adam School for Chapter 1.

Merlynn loved to sew, embroidery, but quilting was her favorite, she made beautiful quilts, table runners. She was a member of the Stitch n Chicks and Quilt Guild.

Merlynn is survived by her daughters, daughter-in-law and sister Jana Gittins.

Merlynn was preceded in death by her husband Gary Lee Thompson, son Broc L Thompson, parents, and brother Robert Mace.

Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 25 at Rexburg 4th Ward Church at 166 S. 1st E Rexburg. The family will receive friends Monday, July 24 from 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home Rexburg, Idaho and again on Tuesday, July 25 from 10:00 – 10:45 a.m. at the church.
