Michael Edward Appell, 67, of Rexburg, Idaho, has passed away surrounded by loved ones on August 27, 2025.

Michael was born on August 1,1958 in Flower 5th Avenue Hospital, New York to Patsy Ruth Appell (Patty) and Edward Joseph Appell. Due to his father's passing when Michael was 13, Patsy moved her two sons to Rexburg, Idaho, where Michael would spend the rest of his life.

When Michael was 20, he met Kathy, and they had a daughter Mikayla Appell Park. He would take Mikayla to Yellowstone and anywhere outdoors. Michael shared his love for the outdoors and passed it down to his daughter Mikayla, where she would pass it onto her children as well.

Years later, Michael had two more children, Jessica Appell Weaver and three years later, Kelly Roy Appell. There was nothing Michael loved more than his children. Michael lived in Ririe, Idaho for 8 years living only minutes away from Mikayla and her family. After those 8 years in Ririe, he moved his family back to Rexburg.

Although Michael was born in the city, he was a country boy. Growing up Michael would help Reid Parkinson, his mom's life companion, on the farm and everywhere between. Michael loved his animals he grew up with on the farm as well as all the family dogs he had with his children.

Michael would spend his weekends with his family and would continue his lifestyle of being outdoors. Michael loved any national parks he could go to. He would bring a cooler, and his family and leave at sunrise every weekend to be outside in Yellowstone or the Tetons. Michael loved to travel and would bring his family anywhere he could go.

His favorite trips were the Oregon coast and visiting his home town in New York. One of Michael's favorite memories was going to Yankee Stadium to watch his beloved Yankees play. Michael loved the Yankees and the New York Giants his entire life and loved when they won even more. He loved watching sports with his family every chance he got.

Although Michael loved sports, there was nothing Michael loved more than his family and getting to spend time with them. Michael was proud of his children's achievements and loved to capture any moment on camera that he could. He would always talk to others about his children's successes and how proud of a father he was, as nothing meant more to him than being a dad.

Michael is survived by his daughter, Jessica Appell Weaver (Joshua) and his son, Kelly Roy Appell. His brother, Patrick Joseph Appell. His grandchildren, Taygen Park and Ashlynn Park. He is also survived by honorary brothers, Deray Parkinson and Kelly Parkinson.

Michael is preceded in death by his daughter Mikayla Appell Park. His parents, Patsy Ruth Appell and Edward Joseph Appell.

Services will be held September 13, 2025 at 315 Gary Drive, Rexburg, Idaho. Funeral Services will be held at 11 am. Interment will be at the Rexburg Cemetery.
