Mickie Nelson

Mary Kathryn "Mickie" Nelson, 72 of Teton, died Tuesday October 16, 2012 at her home of natural causes.

She was born October 10, 1940 in Gallup, New Mexico, a daughter of Thomas Edward and Laura Lucille Sabin Kirk.She was raised in Gallup by her aunts Tatsie and Wallen Sabin.

She received her education at Catholic schools in Gallup and Los Angeles, California.

She married Orville Gene Weatherford in May of 1959 at Gallup, New Mexico. They moved to Idaho in 1961 and through their married years lived in several locations in Washington, Oregon and Idaho while Gene work in construction. Through that time Mickie worked in several jobs from tree planting for the Forest Service to working in potato warehouses and at the Golden Living Center in Rexburg. They later divorced.

She married Fay Nelson January 14, 1983 and they made their home in Teton. He died in 1987.

She has been with her loving companion Paul Gifford since 1988, also living in Teton. They loved spending time with Paul and family on the Henry's Fork
She enjoyed bowling, ceramics and hiding puzzle pieces from Paul so she could put the last piece in. She was also an avid reader.

She is survived by her companion, Paul Gifford of Teton; children, Charles "Chuck" (Martha) Weatherford of Teton; Bonnie Christine "Christy" of Search Light, Nevada; and Laura Kathryn "Kathy" Hansen of Teton. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister , one brother and one great grandchild.

Memorial services will be Friday, October 26, 2012 at 11:00 at Bert Flamm Mortuary (581 E. 1st N., St. Anthony). The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will take place at a later date in the Ashton Pineview Cemetery.
