Obituary

Mildred (Millie) Violet Chandler Arnold, 87 of Sugar City, died February 17, 2011.

Millie was born on August 18, 1923, in Wadena, Saskatchewan, Canada. She was the fifth child of Stephen and Blanche Chandler. She lived in Canada where her father worked on road building crews. When she was twelve the family moved to Plano.

Millie married Keith James Arnold on December 17, 1938, and they had seven children. They were sealed in Idaho Falls Temple. They lived in Sugar City where they raised their children and where she lived until her death.

Millie was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served faithfully in many callings throughout the years including on a mission to Lubbock, Texas, with her husband, Keith; and as a worker in the Idaho Falls and Rexburg Temples. She was serving as a worker in the Rexburg Temple at the time of her death. Working in the Temple brought her much joy and comfort particularly after the passing of Keith in December of 2006.

Millie spent time over the years at the family farm in Felt during planting and harvest seasons. She also worked for a few years at the Barrett's Dress Shop in Rexburg. She spent many hours through the years in community service including as a Pink Lady at Madison Memorial Hospital, on the Sugar City Library Board, and as the Chief Election Judge in Sugar City.

She enjoyed spending time with her children and grand/great children, cooking, traveling, reading, shopping, and playing Barnyard Rummy with her family and friends. Priceless are the many friendships Millie had over the years. Good friends lifted and helped shape her life.

Millie is survived by her children Dennie (Janet) and Bruce (Nancy) of Felt; Pamela (Ivan) Gerdes, James (Darla), Ronnie (Paula) of Sugar City; and Clinton (Rochelle) of Peoria, Arizona; 24 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Keith; a daughter, Evelyn; her parents; and her siblings Earl Chandler, Mary Hall, Eveline Lauder, Lloyd Chandler and Leonard Chandler.

Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 25 at the Sugar City 4th Ward Chapel located at 6 North Teton Avenue. The family will visit with family and friends from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg and Friday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services.
