Mildred Nettie Hertzig Brown, 96, of Rexburg, died Saturday, December 10, 2011, at Homestead Assisted Living of causes incident to age. She was born February 10, 1915 to Alma and Mary Nettie Chandler Hertzig. She attended grade school in Burton and graduated from Madison High School.

She married Ralph Shail in 1931. They were the parents of a daughter, Orene. Millie and Ralph later divorced. She married Nile Brown on March 22, 1938. They had two children, Michael and Jolene (who died shortly after birth). Nile died December 17, 1997.

Millie attended Beauty School in Idaho Falls and was an excellent hairdresser all her life, up to the age of 90. She loved being a beautician. This allowed her to travel to many places. She was on the State Board of Exams for Southeast Idaho as 1st Vice President. She also served as a delegate that went to conventions.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions over the years.

She loved to sew, embroider and make latch hook rugs. She enjoyed traveling and spent time in California and Hawaii with her sister, Josephine. She enjoyed many good times with her family at the cabin in Island Park. Family and friendships were very important to her, and she knew how to have fun.

She is survived by her son Michael (Joyce) Brown of Franktown, Colorado; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughters Jolene and Orene.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 15 at Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. and Thursday from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. both times at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Burton Cemetery.
