Obituary

Nancy Ann White Allred, 86 of Rexburg, died Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at the Rexburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born October 4, 1922 at Portsmouth, Virginia to Arthur Jay White and Eleanor Margaret Bernard White. Nancy's father was a Navy physician, so they lived in the West Indies, Charleston, West Virginia, Washington, D.C. and Norfolk, Virginia. She attended schools in Washington D.C. And Norfolk. After graduation from high school, she attended George Washington University majoring in Physical Education, graduating in 1944. She taught physical education classes at Beloit College in Wisconsin.

Nancy married David E. Jensen on November 30, 1945 and they later divorced. They were blessed with two sons, David and Thomas. A convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints she served in various church callings. She met Morrell Allred in Bethesda, Maryland in 1977 and they were married May 16, 1978 in the LDS temple in Washington, D.C. They made their home in Rexburg. She loved flowers and gardening. She enjoyed traveling and she and Morrell traveled frequently across the United States including Alaska. They also visited the Holy Land and Canada and Europe. She enjoyed reading, sewing and genealogy and she volunteered as tutor in reading for adults. She was recognized by the State of Idaho and EITC for her work with adult tutoring. She loved cats and always had two or three in her care.

She is survived by her husband, Morrell Allred of Rexburg, sons; David A. (Linda) Jensen of Clare, Michigan and Thomas Jensen of Midvale, Utah, stepchildren; Gloria (Seth) Oldham of Idaho Falls, Hal (Michelle) Allred of St. Anthony, Morry (Tracy) Allred of Rexburg and Jacque (Larry) Mason of Huntsville, Utah and 5 grandchildren and 16 step-grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters; Betty (Joseph) Reedy of Niceville, Florida and Florence Pusey of Sedgwick, Maine.

She is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Ray and Art White.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 17, 2009 at the Rexburg LDS 4th Ward Chapel (166 South 1st East) with Bishop Howard Egan officiating. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg and Saturday at the church from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Rexburg Cemetery.
