IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Nina
Morris
January 27, 1933 – October 3, 2021
Nina Lauretta Cone Morris, daughter of William H. Cone and Laura Hovde, was born 27
January 1933 in Seattle, Washington.
Mom slipped away peacefully with family by her side, in the early morning hours of October 3,
2021.
She was a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at the age of 17, in
Seattle, Washington. When Nina was 19 years old, she attended a church dance in Seattle, and
that is where she met her husband-to-be Gary Morris. Gary was serving in the USMC during
the Korean War and was stationed as a cook in Fort Lewis, Washington. The night they met,
Gary introduced himself to her, saying that he was from a little community in Idaho called
Hibbard. Soon after they met, Gary was sent to Camp Pendleton in California. Their 'courtship'
was mainly via letters that they wrote to each other daily.
Nina married Gary, the love of her life, on 6 July 1953, and they were sealed for time and all
eternity on 9 July, 1953 in the Idaho Falls temple by Gary's mission president, Albert E. Choules,
who was then in the Idaho Falls temple presidency. Nina has loved living her married life in Hibbard,
Idaho (her "Heaven on Earth").
Gary and Nina were blessed with seven children, five sons and two daughters. She has always
felt so blessed to have had numerous opportunities to serve in many ward and stake callings in
the church from leadership positions to teaching callings, one of her favorites was her Sunbeam
class, which she taught for many years.
Her family, the church, and anyone she met filled her life with love. Nina radiated love and
concern for everyone and made each person she met feel special. She was known for her joyful
and happy demeanor and her gratitude even during difficult times. She was a devoted wife,
mother, grandmother, and aunt. She was an incredible example to her family and to those who
knew her.
Nina is survived by her children, Daniel E. Morris (Jeanne), David C. Morris (Janalee), both of
Hibbard, Debbie Virgin (Ryan) of Sugar City, Linda Gebs (Ron) of Idaho Falls, John W. Morris of
Rigby, Jason T. Morris (Shawna) of Sugar City, 25 grandchildren, 68 great-grandchildren and 5
great-great-grandchildren.
Nina was preceded in death by her husband, Gary; her son, Brian; her father, mother; brother,
Bill; and her sister, Betty.
