Jennie Glover (Norma Jean Smith Glover)
September 9, 1953 – June 5, 2014
On Thursday June 5th, 2014 Jennie Glover passed away in the company of her family. Born in Rexburg, Idaho; daughter of Jack Warren Smith Sr. and Fern Beattie Smith, sister to Ruth Ann Hills (Richard), Jack Warren Smith Jr. (Barbara), Caryn Gail Smith, Mark Dwain Smith and Gina Roberts (Allen).
Jennie moved to Salt Lake City shortly after graduating from Madison High School. In Utah, she found her passion for law enforcement, a service she devoted herself to for decades. Jennie forged a career in a field and during a time which presented a great number of impediments for women; graduating from the Utah State Police Academy and from Weber State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Police Science.
She was intent on obeying her inner promptings, recognizing them as necessary, and understanding the difficulty they would bring. During that time she was married to Don W. Glover and raised her two sons, Jonathan (Rebekah) and Jason (Alexandria).
Jennie led a life of quantifiable accomplishment, but the beauty of her life lies in the manner in which she gracefully endured forty-years of illness and pain. The years of her life are marked by surgeries and hospital stays, just as they are by the lives she helped to mend through her work. What came natural to Jennie was her ability to extract good even from grotesque circumstances and to act in favor of good in her own worst circumstances. When she was in pain she was kind, when she was ill she was compassionate. She abided a strict and an uncommon morality, not fearfully, but proudly and patiently. Her influence is profound and her loss is impoverishing. She will be deeply missed.
A graveside memorial and dedicatory service, open to all family and friends, will be held on Saturday June 28, 2014, promptly at Twelve Noon; Rexburg City Cemetery, Rexburg, Idaho.
