Obituary

Norma Jean Strang Larsen was reunited with her sweetheart on February 27, 2017. She was born to Arthur Lawrence and Utella Hawley Strang on December 2, 1939 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She grew up in Gilmer Park area and attended the historic Garden Park LDS College where she met her husband and eternal mate, Nathan Reed Larsen. He was a student teacher for one of her classes. Even though they never knew each other growing up, they only lived eight blocks away from each other. They married for time and eternity, June 8, 1962 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

Norma was a devoted wife and mother to five children: Craig Reed (Diane) Larsen, Arthur Clark (Leslie) Larsen, Joseph Scott (Heidi) Larsen, Denise Ann Larsen, Nancy Yvonne (Brad) Wilson. She spent her early married years raising her family then got a job working for the Post Register where she spent many years supervising paper route carriers in the Rexburg area. Dozens of Rexburg children worked under her supervision delivering newspapers.

She adored being able to assist the full-time elders who rented the basement apartment for a time. She provided laundry services and meals to them whenever needed.

After she retired, she spent her time with her husband whom she loved dearly. Nathan passed away in 2003. She filler her time with LDS temple work and service work at the Deseret Industries where she served as a missionary and greeter.

Norma and Nathan had eight grandchildren: Jameson, Isabelle, Zachary, AnneMarie, Hannah, Ella, Todd and Allison. Her grandchildren were the apple of her eye. She could not get enough of taking pictures of them and bragging about them to her friends. She carried a special tote bag dedicated to the pictures of her grandchildren and was very proud of this.

In her later years much of the focus of her life was around the church. She loved her home and visiting teachers and spoke about them often. She also dearly loved and appreciated her bishop and the bishopric. These caring individuals made her life so much easier, assisting her in every aspect.

Her children would like to thank her friends whom she regarded as family for taking car of her.

She is survived by her children and grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her brother.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 3rd at the Rexburg 4th Ward Chapel. Family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home and again from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be in the Rexburg Cemetery.
