Obituary

Norma Jean Lyon, 79 of Leadore, died Wednesday, February 5, 2014 in Rexburg. She was born May 27,1934 in Julesburg, Colorado to George and Hattie Eschliman. She was the last of eight children, all of them delivered by their father. She attended first grade at a country school house. They got there either by horse back or with a horse and cart.

When she was in the third grade they moved to Ovid, Colorado and then later to Denver. When she got older, she and her brother saved up enough money to move them all to Oregon. On the way, they stopped in Idaho Falls to visit one of their other brothers. She and her mother stayed and never left Idaho.

She got a job at Idaho Canvas Company making turkey saddles. Later on she met Howard Lyon and they were married on September 12, 1952. The spring of 1953 they moved to Roberts and then to Menan. On April 17,1955 their first child was born, a daughter they named Vickie.

Norma then went to work at White Star Laundry for a few years and then she worked at Fresh Pack in Lewisville and then for Jefferson County School District as a cook and later as a bus driver. Their second child, Lance, was born March 26,1958.

Norma and Howard later moved to Gilmore where they worked for the Double D Ranch. They were there for ten years. They both retired and moved to Leadore.

Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Howard, both parents, four brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her two children; Vickie (Hal) Wilcox and Lance (Treeva) Lyon, three grandchildren; Melissa (Eric) Radford, Kip (Jordyn) Lyon and Haze Lyon, also two great grandchildren; Cody Radford and Briggs Lyon.

Funeral services will be at 12 Noon on Monday, February 10, 2014 at the Leadore Community Center. Friends may call at the center one half hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Leadore Cemetery.
