Obituary

Norma Muir Harrison Perrenoud of Rexburg, Idaho passed away peacefully on September 16, 2015 at the age of 78. Norma was born on June 22, 1937 in Salem, Idaho to Melvin Bassett Muir and Mabel Annetta Ricks. She grew up with her seven siblings in Rexburg and had many wonderful, fond experiences with her family and friends. Her family also suffered many hardships and challenges but faced them together as a family with their faith in Jesus Christ. She graduated from Madison High School in 1955. She continued her education in the Ricks College Idaho Falls LDS nursing program and received her Register Nurse credentials in September, 1958. Norma married Garth Harrison in October 1958. They had four children: Celeste, Annette, Theresa and Victor. They lived in many places including Pocatello, Idaho; St. Paul, Minnesota; Owatonna, Minnesota; Grants Pass, Oregon; Taylorsville, Utah; Vernal, Utah and back to Rexburg, Idaho after her divorce from Garth. Norma worked as an RN every where she lived. She took the night shift so that she could be home with her children during the day. She loved being a nurse so that she could help people when they were in need. Nursing changed a lot during the more than 40 years that Norma worked. She enjoyed learning and growing to become better at her craft and she enjoyed mentoring many new nurses through the years. In 1976 she moved back to Rexburg with her children and she worked at Madison Memorial Hospital until 1999. Norma married Kay Perrenoud on September 18, 1981 and their marriage was sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple a year later. They were now the parents of 9 teenagers! Norma enjoyed camping, four-wheeling, picking huckleberries, gardening, playing games and many other activities. But she enjoyed these things the most when she could do them with her family, grandchildren and friends. Norma is survived by her loving husband, Kay Perrenoud; her brother Elmo (DeLone) Muir of Springville, Utah; her sister Carma Muir Golding LeCheminant of Orem, Utah; her sister-in-law, Janice (Golden) Johnson Muir; her brother-in-law, Gale (Wanda) Perrenoud and many beloved nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her children: Doug (Lisa) Perrenoud of Meridian, Idaho; Jack Perrenoud of Rigby, Idaho; Celeste (Neal) Moss of Laie, Hawaii; Robert (Rebecca) Perrenoud of Blackfoot, Idaho; Annette (Karl) Rose of Hyde Park, Utah; Ron (Kathy) Perrenoud of Rexburg, Idaho; Theresa (Paul) Cook of Atascadero, California; Victor (Tanya) Harrison of Rexburg, Idaho; Barbara (Hal) Gneiting of Mud Lake, Idaho. Kay and Norma have 25 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Norma was preceded in death by her parents, Mabel and Melvin Muir, her brothers Robert Muir, Merlin Muir, Golden Muir and her sisters Emelia Muir Ward and Wanda Muir Perrenoud. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 21st at the LDS Rexburg 3rd Ward chapel (345 So. 3rd West). The family will receive friends on Sunday from 6:00-7:30 p.m at Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg and on Monday from 10:00-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services.
