O. Lee Johnson
Olif Lee Johnson Jr., 78, of Rexburg died Friday, January 22, 2010 at Rexburg Care and Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Hibbard, Idaho to Olif Lee and Ardella Johnson on December 7, 1931. He had one older sister, Darlene.
He attended grade school in the one room school in Hibbard until the eighth grade. He then went to Madison High School at Rexburg. After high school he was in the army from June 1951 until 1959 where he served in Germany during the Korean War.
He married Sarah Joan Walker of Rexburg on October 8, 1954. The marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many positions including teacher, ward clerk, secretary in the High Priest Group, Temple worker and many other callings. His was a life of giving service to others.
He enjoyed reading, watching TV and traveling. His greatest joy was his family.
He is survived by his wife, his children, Melanie Clark of Rexburg, Idaho, Dan Olif (Dede) Johnson of Portland, Oregon, Brett Lee (Bonnie) Johnson of St. Anthony, Idaho, Steve Willis (Holly) Johnson of Portland, Oregon, Arnold Johnson of Rexburg, Idaho, and Julie Ann (Jeremy) Dvorak of Tetonia, Idaho, as well as 16 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, his sister, a daughter-in-law (Trina) and 2 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 26, at the Stonebridge LDS Church on 7th North. The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home and from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church on Tuesday. Interment will be in the Rexburg Cemetery with military rites.
