Dr. Gustav Olof Larson passed away January 25, 2012, surrounded by his family. He was born December 24, 1926, in Cedar City, Utah, to Gustive O. and Virginia Bean Larson. Olle had many interests--from music to geography to woodworking--that he pursued all his life. Never far from a book, he was a life-long student.
Olle spent many years in Sweden, first when his parents led the Stockholm Sweden LDS mission, and then later as he served his own mission there.
Olle studied chemistry at the University of Utah and received his doctorate from Washington State University. Much of his teaching career was spent in Big Rapids, Michigan, at Ferris State University.
He served in many Church positions, most recently as a member of the Rexburg East Stake Sealing team and as the Stake Baptism Coordinator.
Olle is survived by his wife of 56 years, Esther, and his children, Linda Larson, Gini Larson, Ellie (Van) Christman, and Lars Larson, his sister, Tanja L. Cannon, six grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 28, at the Rexburg East Stake Center, 387 South 4th East. Visitations will be held Friday, January 27, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg, and Saturday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the Stake Center prior to services.
