Orion Marvin Ward, 74 of St. Anthony passed away Friday, August 24, 2012 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
Orion was born December 14, 1937 in Salem, Idaho to Thomas James and Nora Iona McCulley Ward. He was the 6th of 12 children. His family moved several times in his growing up years so he attended schools in many Eastern Idaho communities.
He began working at an early age with his family logging and he continued with it until several years after his marriage. He served in the US Army, stationed in Germany, from August 5, 1955 until July 25, 1958.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He married Brenda Kay Walters on July 3, 1965 in St. Anthony and their marriage was solemnized in the Rexburg LDS Temple on April 24, 2010. They spent most of their married life living in St. Anthony.
Orion was a long haul truck driver for many years and then worked as a heavy equipment operator.
He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. He dearly loved each of his grandchildren, Jordan, Jacey, Remington and Cierra. He enjoyed his association with his friends and watching football.
He is survived by his wife Brenda of St. Anthony; daughter Heather (Kevin) Grende of St. Anthony; 4 grandchildren; 4 brothers, Dwen (Cora) Ward of Shelley, ID; Arden (Joyce) Ward of Baker, FL; Hershel (Vickie) Ward of Winston-Salem, NC; Burdette (Terry) Ward of Pahrump, NV; 2 sisters, Iris Wise of Idaho Falls, ID; and Verma (Bill) Dobson of Twin Falls, ID. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers, 1 sister and his son Travis Vern Ward.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, August 30, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Anthony LDS Stake Center with Bishop DelRay Davenport of the St. Anthony 3rd Ward officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Bert Flamm Mortuary (581 E. 1st N., St. Anthony) and on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the Stake Center. Burial will be in the Parker Cemetery with military rites by the St. Anthony VFW and American Legion.
