Obituary

Paul Franklin Price, 90, of Island Park, Idaho died Monday, May 16, 2016 at his home in Island Park, Idaho. He was born May 14, 1926 in West Jordan, Utah to Charles William and Laura Eliza Price. His parents moved to Blackfoot, Idaho when he was a young boy. He graduated from Blackfoot High School in 1944 and enlisted in the Navy. After his honorable discharge he served a mission for the LDS church in the Eastern Canadian Mission from 1947 to 1949.

On January 28, 1949 he married Grace Elizabeth Hammond. They were married in her parents' home in Bracebridge, Ontario, Canada and were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple on March 1, 1949. They lived with Paul's parents, Charles "Pop" and Laura Gerber Price in Blackfoot for a short time. They remained in Blackfoot for about 2 years. While in Blackfoot, their son, Paul Daniel was born on April 5, 1950.

Paul's employment with various engineering construction companies moved them around the Western United States. They lived in Iona, Idaho while assigned to projects at the AEC (now INL). In 1955 Morrison-Knudsen Co. offered employment in Anchorage, Alaska. The young family traveled to Alaska driving the length of the 1,500 mile Alcan Highway. In 1961 they were transferred to a project near Moses Lake, Washington. In 1962 another transfer took them to San Francisco, working on the Vietnam Military Construction Project (RMK-BRJ). While in San Francisco, they adopted two children, Gary and Claire (brother and sister). In 1972 they returned to Eastern Idaho for a short assignment at INL. Following the completion of that assignment they were transferred to Morrison-Knudsen's Home office in Boise, Idaho where they remained until retirement in June, 1990, at which time they moved to their cabin in Island Park, ID.

Paul was an avid fisherman, and has fished many waters and rivers in Alaska, Canada and the USA. Many of his family have fond memories of the fishing trips they went on with Paul. He passed his love for the outdoors and wildlife onto the generations that have followed him. Paul also enjoyed building construction, and spent many memorable hours building their cabin in Island Park. Most of all, Paul enjoyed being surrounded by his family.

Paul had a strong work ethic, and was dedicated to whatever task he undertook. He was generous and loving in all his dealings, and was honest in his work and dealings with his fellow men. He was kind and gentle to everyone, and made it a point to always address people by their name, and to ask how they were doing. He lived with a desire to share what he had with others and to comfort those that stood in need of comfort.

Paul was an effective and motivating teacher and leader in his various Stake and Ward assignments. He was an example of love and service to his family and associates by his willing acceptance of church and civic callings and assignments. He served another mission with his wife in the New Zealand, Auckland Mission (1996-1997) sharing his unwavering testimony of Jesus Christ and His atoning sacrifice with the people of New Zealand.
