Paula Patricia Murphy, 95, of Rexburg, passed away September 2, 2022, of natural causes. She was born June 6, 1927, in Kloten, North Dakota to Dick Dean Palmer and Elvina Georgiana Stone Palmer. She was the eldest of 10 children. She graduated from Cut Bank High School in Cut Bank, Montana.

She met George Murphy while in high school. They married June 24, 1945. Six children were born to this marriage, two boys and four girls. Charlene Frances, George Edward, Anita Jeannene, Gerald Arthur, Debra Gay, and Deanna Marie.

After losing her husband in a work related accident, she moved with her children to Idaho Falls, Idaho, and later to Rexburg. She attended Ricks College and earned her Registered Nursing license. She worked at Madison Memorial Hospital for over 33 years. Paula loved being a nurse.

She was a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served in many callings. She served two missions for the church, one to Guatemala South America, and one to St. Louis, Missouri.

She is survived by her children, Charlene (Bob) Deroche of Cody, Wyoming, Anita Hart of Idaho Falls, Deanna (Joel) Jenkins of Rexburg; siblings, Howard (Karen) Palmer of Thermopolis, Wyoming, Marian (David) Keller of Glendive, Montana, Jim (Charlene) Palmer of Austin, Texas; 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George; children, George E. Murphy, Debra G. Reese, Gerald Arthur Murphy.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 8, at Flamm Funeral Home, 61 North 1st East, in Rexburg. The family will meet with friends and family Thursday morning from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home prior to services. Interment will be in the Fielding Memorial Cemetery.
