Pete Genther, 87 of Rexburg, died Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at his home in Burton. He was born December 15,1921 at Dodge, North Dakota to Peter Genther and Elsie Minnie Frieberg Miller. The family moved to Idaho when Pete was young. He attended schools in the Idaho Falls area. During World War II he served in the Navy on the submarine called the S.S. Proteius.
He married Aldean Dora Parker on March 29, 1947. The marriage was solemnized March 14,1970 in the Los Angeles LDS temple. They lived and farmed in Osgood, Roberts and Lewisville much of their early married life. In 1963 the family moved to Ontario, California where Pete worked as a carpenter and then at General Electric Flat Iron Plant as a machinist. In 1979 Pete and Aldean moved back to Rexburg and Aldean passed away September 25,1994.
Pete married Pauline Hill April 19,2000. They have enjoyed each others company for the past nine years. Pete was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved fishing, hunting, bowling and was known for is beautiful gardens. He was a people person, very fun loving, a favorite of everyone that knew him.
He is survived by his wife Pauline of Burton, children; Alan (Gleneen) Genther of Springville, UT, Jerry (Wendy) Genther of Portland, OR, Lyle (Patti) Genther of San Bernardino, CA, LeAnn (Gary) Geiser of Rexburg, Vernon (Lori) Genther of Brigham City, UT, Gene'(Monty) Worthy of Perry, UT, 34 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Aldean, a daughter Sharlene, 12 brothers and sisters, a grandchild Alesha and two great grandsons Vance and William.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 2, 2009 at the Burton LDS Church with Bishop Tim McGarry officiating. The family will receive friends Friday at the church from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. prior to services. Interment with military rites will be in the Sugar City Cemetery.
