Obituary

Phyllis Jean Beale Jones, 83, wife, mother, and loving friend to all, passed away peacefully on December26, 2022 in Rexburg, Idaho.

Phyllis was born on November 16, 1939, in Flint, Michigan to Ollie Benjamin Beale and Jean Worth Beale, the oldest of four sisters: Martha Scott, Mary Margaret, and Cherry Lynn. In the early 1950s her family moved to Las Vegas where she eventually began a family and joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She later moved to Arizona, raised her five children, and loved and cared for her second and third husbands, children, and grandchildren.

In 2009 Phyllis married Richard Jones and added his children and grandchildren to her list of those she loved and affectionately cared for. She found true fulfillment in serving and caring for others.
Phyllis was devoted to making and keeping sacred covenants and served generously in her church
congregations and communities. She especially loved working with young men in Scouting and was honored with a Silver Beaver for her many years of service to this program.

In her congregations, Phyllis served in almost every capacity, at the ward and stake level: Relief Society President, Young Women President, and any teaching position in between. She felt one of her greatest honors was serving in the Rexburg Idaho Temple and as a missionary in the Washington DC Temple.

Phyllis' real and abiding passions were her family and friends. She sought to love everyone she met with an infectious smile, a memorable laugh, and a love for life. Her commitment to living life to the fullest and loving fiercely was played out each day. After a lifetime of serving others, Phyllis spent her final days being cared for by her loving husband of 13 years, Richard Jones. As evidence of her love and devotion to family, Phyllis has left an indelible mark on those who were loved and touched deeply by her care, most especially her spouses, children, 151 grandchildren, and 205+ great-grandchildren:
James Jacks and Sharon, Jay, Joy, Susan, John
Steve Hatch and Jackie, LesLee, Steven, Douglas
Melvin Beard and Chalice, Kim, Melanie, Joseph, DeLite, Colette, Todd, Michele, Heidi, Aaron
