Obituary

Phyllis Davis Kunz, 90, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, November 11, 2012. She was born September 6, 1922 to Sigard and Eva Warnberg in St. Anthony, Idaho

Phyllis married Jay Lester Davis on January 5, 1940 and moved to Teton Valley shortly thereafter where she lived the rest of her life. Jay passed away in 1968 and Phyllis married Ross Kunz in December of 1971. Anyone who knew them knew that Ross and Phyllis loved each other and lived happily ever after. Ross preceded Phyllis in death in 2011.

Phyllis was one of the great characters of her generation. After Jay died, she continued driving a bulk milk truck hauling milk to Rexburg and to Ririe until 1971, then sold the route and the truck to Ross Foster. She then went to work as a deputy at the Teton County Sheriff's office. She was one of the founding members of the Valley of the Tetons Library in Victor.

Ross worked for Teton County Road and Bridge until he retired and they became snow birds in the winter. They had many friends in Nevada and were the hub of the activities among them.

Earlier in her life, Phyllis and Jay worked hard on the small ranch they owned off of Cedron Road. She mowed hay with a horse mower and cut firewood and always had a large noon meal for the hands and family. She was a great cook! Although there was not a lot of money, there was always a lot of love in her family and in her life.

Phyllis was and is a hero to a lot of people. Her many grandchildren and great grandchildren always respected her for her wisdom and straight forward honesty. She was a no nonsense person who naturally commanded respect. She held her many grandchildren and great grandchildren's feet to the fire when needed and they all loved her and honored her.

Phyllis is survived by: Children – Robert Jay Davis (Connie), Salt Lake City, Utah; James K Davis (Lora), Victor, Idaho; Jana Davis Gauruder (John), Tremonton, Utah; William Ross Kunz (Jenny), Florida; Victor Alma Kunz, Florida; Dedie Maire Kunz (Craig), Florida.
