Obituary

Ray Orin Couch, a beloved husband, father, educator, and outdoor enthusiast, passed away peacefully, leaving a legacy of love, service, and dedication to his family and students. Born in Idaho Falls, Idaho, Ray's journey took him through various cities, including Provo and Logan, Utah, and finally to Rexburg, where he spent the remaining years of his life.

Ray earned his PhD in Education and dedicated over thirty years to being a business professor at BYU-Idaho. He was known for his passion for teaching and his unwavering commitment to his students. His keen insights and supportive nature made a lasting impact, as he guided countless individuals in their professional journeys, helping them craft resumes and navigate career paths with confidence.

A proud veteran, Ray served in the Navy during the Vietnam War, spending two years stationed overseas off the coast of Vietnam. His faith as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints was a cornerstone of his life. He served in numerous church callings and lived in accordance with his strong testimony of Jesus Christ, embodying the values he cherished.

Ray had a deep love for the outdoors, often seizing opportunities to experience the stunning landscapes of the Northwest and beyond. He cherished family adventures in his camper, creating lasting memories with his wife and children as they explored trails and campsites together. Even in his final days, Ray dreamed of visiting the Oregon coast, reflecting his enduring spirit of adventure.

He is survived by his loving family, who will remember him for his kindness, wisdom, and zest for life. Ray Orin Couch will be missed deeply by all who knew him, but his legacy will continue to inspire those he touched through his teachings and the bonds he forged.

Ray is survived by his wife Sherry Couch, children: Kerry (Floyd) Kearl, Jon (Tara) Couch, Jim Couch, Mark Couch, Rachel (Chante Mestaz) Couch. 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren

Ray is proceeded in death by his parents Howard and Thella Couch, and his brothers Jack and Keith Couch.

A viewing will be held on Sunday, April 20, 2025 at Flamm Funeral Home from 5:30 pm till 7:00 pm. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 21, 2025 at 10:00 am at Flamm Funeral Home.
