Raymond LaRoy Gothard, age 78, went to his heavenly home on Sunday, April 17, 2016. He was born, August 29, 1937 in Grants Pass, Oregon to Roscoe Fitzroy Gothard and Maxine Eunice Lawrence Gothard.
Ray attended elementary schools and graduated from Grants Pass High School in the Class of 1956. His career, in the lumber industry, started at an early age while working with his father. He was a skilled heavy equipment operator and a professional timber faller. His work took him to Oregon, Montana and Idaho until his retirement.
Ray married Jane Emily Stephens on March 26, 1960. To this union were born 2 children: Donna Kim Gothard and Bradley Jay Gothard.
Ray was an avid outdoorsman. His travel trailer seemed to only go in one direction and that was to the Leadore/Salmon Idaho area. He loved the beautiful scenery and ample places to hunt and fish.
Ray was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He loved his family. Traditional gatherings during the holidays, summer break or special events were enjoyed by all. He entertained his children and grandchildren with his story telling abilities.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Gothard and his children: Donna Parker(Larry) of Bountiful, Utah and Bradley Gothard (MaryAnn) of Las Vegas, Nevada. His six grandchildren: Russell Lakey(Kelly), Heather Preece (Tim), Rocky Parker (Ryann), Amber Marshall (Stephen), Kayla Gothard and Alexa Gothard and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Myrna Duke(David) of Medford, Oregon.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 23,at Flamm Funeral Home-Rexburg 61 N. 1st East. The viewing will be from 10:00-10:45 prior to the funeral. Interment will be at the Sugar City Cemetery.
