He passed after courageously defeating pancreatic cancer in 2016, yet finally succumbed to it when it returned uninvited the second time late 2018. He was born April 2, 1941 to his parents Delbert and Margaret Mauery in Deery Township, Pennsylvania.

His life was an active one filled with service and patriotism. As a young child, he loved swimming at the YMCA, acting in plays, singing, and gymnastics.

He met and married Susan Burlison in the Seattle temple and became a father of four overnight. Two other children were added, one by birth, and one through adoption.

He worked for WSU as a gardener and after retirement in 2008, he spent hours working in his beloved flower beds and yard. He also enjoyed serving a family history mission with for The Church in Salt Lake City, UT.

His legacy was one of a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Nothing was more important to him than spending time with his family, and he will be sorely missed.
