Richard E. Pingry, Jr. 43, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, March 6th, 2014.
He was born September 16th, 1970 in Jacksonville, Florida to Richard E. Pingry, Sr. and Juanita Irene Pingry. He moved many times while growing up and graduated from North Side High School in Roanoke, Virginia. He attended college at BYU in Provo and Roanoke College and graduated with a bachelors degree in computer science in 1998.
He married his sweetheart, Heidi Ruth Sorenson June 18th, 1993. He was a loving father to their five children: Elder Richard Calvin Pingry (19), Justin Morris Pingry (17), Andrew Lowell Pingry (15), Simon Russell Pingry (13) and Naomi Ruth Pingry (10).
As a family, they lived in Colorado, Texas, Virginia, and Idaho. He worked for several different companies including Northrop Grumman, TAU Technologies, PolicyTech and Navex Global. He also taught computer programming and graphics as an adjunct professor at BYU-Idaho and was pursuing a Master's Degree from BYU Provo. He loved teaching. He also designed a game app for the Android market called Rimblade.
He had a very entreprenurial spirit and always had multiple outside projects that he pursued along with his regular work.
He loved the theater and was involved in many productions in school and more recently with his family in the Rexburg Community Theater and Sugar City Education Foundation theatrical productions.
He was a faithful member of the LDS Church and served as Scoutmaster and other scout related callings, Seminary teacher, Elder's Quorum Secretary and Young Men's Presidency.
He loved motorcycles and associating with people. He was a devoted friend and loved getting to know new people.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at the Sugar City Stake Center. The Family will meet friends Tuesday from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg and Wednesday at the stake center from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Sugar City Cemetery.
