Richard Martell Sharp was born April 27, 1950 in Rexburg, Idaho to William Martell and Lois Annie Taylor Sharp. He graduated from Madison High School in 1968. He earned a degree from Ricks College in architectural drafting. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to Alaska - British Columbia mission.
When he returned home, he met and married Susan Lorene Rasmussen in January 1975. Together they have five children, Jennifer Marie (Travis) Torngren, Karen LeIsle (Dallas) Brown, Julie Alicia (Gary) Dansie, Jared Richard (Heather) Sharp, and Brandon Dan (Lorna) Sharp. He was the proud and loving grandparent of eighteen grandchildren; Brett Torngren, Shaylee, Brennae, Halee, Danni, Kylie, Porter, Cooper, and Bryndi Brown, Tori, Alicia, Jocelyn, and Sydney Dansie, Sheridyn, Savannah, and Katelyn Sharp, Aubrey, and Lydia Sharp.
He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman who shared his love for nature, hunting and camping with his children and grandchildren. His most remembered occupation was that of a horse shoer. His skill and talent were highly sought after. He excelled at everything he endeavored with skill and ingenuity. He was hard working, intelligent, and a perfectionist who dedicated his life to providing for his family. He loved to teach those around him and especially loved to bake with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, his mother Lois Sharp, and his siblings, Linda Dye, Perry Sharp, and DeMar Sharp.
He is preceded in death by his father, William Martell Sharp.
Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 23, 2010 at the Lyman LDS Chapel (south of the stake center) with counselor Doug Jacobson officiating. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home and on Saturday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be in the Sutton Cemetery.
