Rick (Rickie) Irl Clark passed away peacefully with family by his side at home Monday, October 2nd after a long battle with health issues.
Rick was born February 27, 1953 in St. Anthony, Idaho to Junior Arlo and Darline Jones Clark. He was the third of five siblings: Norman, Colleen, Lyle, and Rose. In his younger years he spent a lot of time in Kilgore, Dubois, and St. Anthony. His grandpa owned a sawmill in Kilgore and he loved being in the mountains.
He attended schools in St. Anthony and South Fremont High. He worked for Wadsworth Lumber Company, alongside his dad. He loved working on vehicles. He worked for Garth's Auto Repair and Stones Town and Country Motors. He was with Stones for 20 years. He was a volunteer firefighter for Madison County Fire Department. He enjoyed working with the fire department.
Rick married Ruth Klingler Clark June 8th, 1973. They were sealed in the temple in June of 1976. They just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past June. They have five children, whom have all passed away. They were the light of his life: Christopher Irl, Benjamin Wesley, Layel Rickie, Russel Tate, and Rebecca Eulalia who was the apple of daddy's eye.
Rick was a member of the LDS church. He served in the Elders Quorum Presidency, Sunday School Presidency, Boys Scouts as Assistant Scout Master, Cub Master, and Webelos leader. He coached Special Olympics which was close to his heart. Rick and Ruth were foster parents. He was in many activities and loved to serve others. He always supported his kids and grandkids scouting, their sports, and activities. He loved watching them.
Rick loved nature and the outdoors. He was an amazing hunter and instilled hunting in his kids and grandkids. He loved being with family and taught his kids and grandkids many things. He loved to hunt, camp, fish, hike, and go for rides in the mountains. He loved making his famous Dutch Oven Chicken.
He is survived by his sweet wife Ruth Clark, mother-in-law Shirley Johnson, daughter-in-law Michon Clark(Russell) his siblings and his grandkids: Jackson (Chelsey) Clark, Samantha Gneiting, Weston (Breanna) Clark, Tyrel (Chantell) Clark, Tre (Nohea) Clark, Taelor Clark, Bentley Clark, Devin (Alex) Smith, Jaden (Raina) Smith. Eight great grandkids: Braxton, Kody, Ridge, Tate, Kayson, Keone, Alyiah, Kaizer, and one due in January.
He was preceded in death by his parents Junior & Darline Clark, father-in-law Clayne G. Klingler, his five children, and three nephews.
He was a very devoted husband, dad, grandfather, and friend. He loved his grandkids as they always brighten his day.
Viewing will be Monday October 9th from 5:30 to 7:00 at Flamm Funeral Home and funeral services with be held October 10th at 11:00 at the Sugar City Stake Center, there will be a viewing from 10:00 to 10:45 before the service. Interment will be at the Sugar City Cemetery.
