Robert Briggs
Robert Dewain Briggs, 77 or St. Anthony, died Saturday, April 9, 2016 at the Ashton Living Center.
He was born February 6, 1939 at Newdale, Idaho to Carlos and Lydia Florence Davis Briggs.
He was raised in Newdale where he also attended grade school. He later attended Sugar Salem High School.
As a boy his father taught him how to fish and he became an avid fisherman because of that. He didn't like to eat the fish but he loved catching them. He also loved to hunt.
He worked for farmers in and around the local area, moving sprinkler pipe and working in the potatoes. He also worked in the timber industry for a while peeling logs.
Robert married once and later divorced. Never having any children of his own he thought the world of his nieces and nephews as well as his great nieces and nephews. He enjoyed fishing with them when he could.
Robert played in a pool league for a number of years and enjoyed the competition.
Going to the family reunion was the highlight of his summer. For two day he spent time with his extended family and always had a great time.
He spent the last two years at the Ashton Living Center. He came to call the center home and knew all the nurses and aides by name and had nick names for most of them.
He is survived by many nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, 5 sisters, 2 brothers and 8 nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Bert Flamm Mortuary (581 E. 1st N.) in St. Anthony. Family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Teton-Newdale Cemetery. Condolences may be sent online at www.flammfh.com.
