Robert Hail Cureton, 89, of Rexburg passed away Sunday, November 20, 2011 at Madison Memorial Hospital. He leaves behind his loving wife, Helen Marie Cureton, 5 sons, Ed Kennedy, Bill Cureton, Dusty Cureton, Kim Cureton, Matt Cureton and 2 daughters, Barbara Sherf and Cindy Whiting, 12 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
He was born December 23, 1921 in Los Angeles, CA, to George Hail and Edith Cureton. He was raised in Lordsberg, NM, where he graduated from high school. He also attended technical training in bookkeeping and he then started ranching. In 1940 he moved to Los Angeles, CA, where he worked in law enforcement, both in California and New Mexico, for many years.
He married Helen Maire Thomas on July 29, 1960 in Sutherland, OR. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Utah LDS Temple.
He served his country in WWII as part of the Army Air Force.
They moved to Rexburg in 1969 where he worked at the Rick College Dairy. He then worked at Challenge Creamery. After his time at the creamery he began building homes and working with his sons.
He was a convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints, he served in a bishopric, worked at family history, and enjoyed serving in the temple. He and Helen served a mission to the family history center in Salt Lake City, UT.
He is also survived by his sister, Dorothy Jackson of Gila, NM.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, a sister and a grandson.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 26th at the Rexburg 3rd Ward Chapel. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home and again from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be in the Rexburg Cemetery.
