Obituary

Robert Eugene Howell, 76, passed away on Sunday August 10,2014 at his home in Archer following a long battle with cancer. Robert was born August 1, 1938 in Powell, Wyoming to Rodney Bert Howell and Eva Benson Howell. When he was 7 years old his family moved to Archer where he attended Archer Elementary and graduated from Madison High School in 1956. On November 6, 1959 he married his high school sweetheart, Romma Kennington in the Archer LDS Church. In 1960 they moved to Glendale, California. Their two sons Kevin and Kerry were sealed to them when their marriage was solemnized in the Los Angeles Temple. While in California, Bob worked for a building supply company, learned to set tile and lay carpet. In 1970, he moved his family back to Archer where their two daughters Kendra and Kami were born. After moving back to Archer he went to work for Earl Wilcox Logging for 17 years. In that time he and Romma bought Terry's store and changed it to Howell's Kountry Korner. In 1988, he and Kevin became full-time beekeepers and business partners. He remained a beekeeper until his health required him to retire. At that time he learned from a dear friend the art of woodworking and cabinet building. It is estimated that he built over 100 pieces of furniture. Bob was an active member of the LDS Church and served faithfully in many callings including serving a humanitarian mission in 2003. He was always looking for ways to do service for people he knew or a complete stranger it didn't matter. He enjoyed flying his airplane, boating and fishing, and riding four-wheelers, but most of all his favorite activity was spending time with his family and grand kids. He is survived by his wife Romma of Archer, ID.; children Kevin Eugene (Robynn) Howell of Archer, ID.; Kerry Wade (Lori) Howell of Draper, UT.; Kendra (Steve) Michaelis of Kaysville, UT.; Kami Sue (Shane) Gritzenbach of Sunnydell, ID.; 19 Grandchildren and six and a half great-grandchildren. Three brothers Reed Howell of Archer, ID; Wayne Howell of Littleton, CO; Arden Howell of Sandy, UT; and one sister Jeanne Clifford of West Valley City, UT. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother Bruce Howell. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday August 13, 2014 at 11am in the Archer LDS church with Bishop Bryan Pope officiating. Friends may call at Flamm Funeral Home 61 N 1st E Rexburg ID on Tuesday evening from 5:30 to 7:00 pm and again prior to services from 10:00to 10:45 am.
