Robert (Bob) Gene Kitchell Sr passed away April 10, 2020 at the Veterans Home in Pocatello, Idaho. Bob was born October 2, 1943 In Portland Oregon to William and Marguerite (Hodges) Kitchell. Bob grew up in the Pacific North West Mostly living in Aberdeen Washington where he attended Weatherwax High School.

After School Bob enlisted in the US Army and served for 3 years including a tour in Vietnam where he was wounded and received a Purple Heart medal . In 1968 Bob enlisted in the United States Marine Corp., serving for 8 years, including 2 tours in Vietnam where he was shot and received a Purple Heart medal. He also spent time in the Philippines and Japan. Later serving in the Marine Reserves for several years. 1970 while stationed in Camp Lejeune North Carolina He met and married Debra Meyer. They had Bob's only child Robert Gene Kitchell Jr. On October 25, 1971. They later divorced.

Bob led a private life protecting himself from his time in Vietnam. Bob traveled a lot during his many years, living in Washington, Oregon, Florida, Nevada and finally moving to Idaho to be with his son and daughter in-law the last year of his life.

He was preceded in death by his mother Marguerite Rice and father William Kitchell.

He is survived by is son Robert Gene Kitchell Jr, daughter in-law Cheryl Kitchell Rexburg ID, granddaughters Ariel Beck-Kitchell Hoquiam WA, Jessica Biery Westport WA, Samantha Biery Rexburg ID and Grandson Jacob Baker Rexburg ID. Great Granddaughter Natahlie Olive. Brother Michael (Dorothy) Kitchell, Yuma AZ. Sisters Patricia (Gordon) Lanning Hoquiam WA, Kay (Richard) Patton Aberdeen WA and numerous nieces and nephews.

Private family services will be held. Bob will be laid to rest in the Rexburg Cemetery.
