Rogelio "Roy" Leon Hernandez, 65, of Sugar City, died May 2, 2018, at his home after a long battle with cancer.
He was born November 26, 1952, in Otatillos, Sinaloa, Mexico, to Sebero Leon and Domitila Hernandez. He was raised in Mexico until age 17 when he came to the United States to work. He worked for Bruce Arnold Farms for 38 years and has worked for Crapo Farms for the last nine years. He was a talented mechanic and was valued for his ability to solve any problem on the farm. He could repair and run all the equipment. He was a hard worker and took pride in his work.
He married Lillian Elizabeth Young on April 12, 1984, in Rexburg, Idaho. Two children were born to this marriage. The family lived in Teton City for 28 years and then moved to Sugar City where they have lived for the past 9 years.
Rogelio loved hunting, fishing, gardening and being with his family. He had a big heart and personality. He loved to whistle and sing.
He was a member of the Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Lillian of Sugar City; children, Angela (Jose) Morones and Jared Hernandez all of Sugar City; brothers, Vidal (Gilberta) Leon, Juan (Fidelia) Leon, Jose (Rita) Leon, all of Mexico; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and three brothers.
Funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 9, at Mary Immaculate Church Catholic Church, 328 West 1st North, St. Anthony, ID. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, May 8, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home, 61 N. 1st E., in Rexburg. Interment will be in the Sugar City Cemetery.
