Roger D. Allen, 80, of Monteview, died Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at his home. He was born March 3, 1931 in Le Grand, IA to Lester Eugene and Anna Marion Allen.

He attended grade school in Le Grand and graduated from high school in Marshalltown, IA. He served 20 years in the U.S. Navy. During his Naval service he spent 17 years on submarines.

His wife Lorna, the mother of his children, raised a beautiful family, with Roger away so much. They later divorced.

He married Eunice Virginia DeLay on November 21, 1975 in Idaho Falls, ID.

After retiring from the Navy he worked for Lennox in Marshalltown, IA. His hobbies including gardening and fishing.

He is survived by his wife Eunice Allen, his children, Cinthia Preston of Ferndale, WA, Teresa Allen of Salem, OR, Daniel Allen of Boise, ID, Valerie Braum of Tillamook, OR, JoMarie Mouro, North Delta, Canada, as well as 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He is also survived by his brother, Max Allen of Molalla, OR, and his sisters, Shirley Landers and JoAnn Zapp both of Bend, OR.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Robert, Marshall, Bill, and a son Douglas.

Memorial services will be held at a later date to be determined. Interment will be in Iowa.

The family would like to thank the neighbors and friends of Monteview that helped with Roger and give a special thanks to the staff at Heart of Hospice who were so wonderful to him.
