Roger Thompson, age 69, of St.Anthony, Idaho, passed away at his home August 31st, 2017.
He was born November 28, 1947, in St. Anthony, Idaho. His parents were Clem Levi Thompson and Jeneal Luella Josephson. Roger was the youngest of their five children.
He served in the Idaho National Guard from 1967 to 1969 and was in Vietnam with the 116th Engineering Battalian as a combat engineer.
He married Kathleen Kirkham of Teton City, Idaho on July 13th, 1968, in Ft. Lewis, Washington.
After his military service he worked in construction with his father and later as owner of Thompson Construction. They completed many construction projects over the years all over the upper valley and in Island Park.
He took great pride in his work and was an accomplished craftsman. His family was his whole world, and he loved spending time with his grand kids.
He is survived by his spouse of 49 years, Kathy, and daughters Taci Stoddard of Sugar City, Idaho, and Lexie Sommer of St. Anthony. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Clem (LaRie) Thompson. His surviving siblings are Carol (Max) Dayton of Wilford, Gary (Merlynn) Thompson of Rexburg and Lyle (Barbara) Thompson of Rigby. He and Kathy have six wonderful grandchildren - Kagen Sommer, Wyatt Sommer, Sydnie Stoddard, Shad Sommer, Hayley Stoddard and Dillan Stoddard.
The funeral services will be held at the St. Anthony Stake Center on Tuesday, September 5th at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends prior to the funeral from 10:00-10:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Wilford Cemetery under the direction of Bert Flamm Mortuary.
Military rites will be provided by the St. Anthony VFW and American Legion and the Idaho Honor Guard.
