Ronald Urban Staley, 87 of Egin, died Saturday, December 15, 2018 at home of causes incident
to age.

He was born August 6, 1931 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Ira Urban and Lucille Marie Johnson Staley.
He was raised in Egin and attended the Egin Grade School and Edmonds High School until his sophomore year when he left school to help his father on the farm. He continued to be involved in farming throughout his life. He worked for seventeen years for Eldon Romrell and then for a short time worked for Gary Taylor at US Steel.

He agreed to be lined up on a blind date where he met Edna Priest. They were married on October 23, 1951 in the Idaho Falls Temple and they made their home in Egin.

In November 1954 he was drafted into the US Army. His basic training was at Fort Ord, California and was then stationed at Fort Lewis. He was then surprised to be assigned to Korea where for his final year in the service he guarded the border which was established with barbed wire.
He always enjoyed gardening and encouraging others to garden. One of his favorite things to grow was giant pumpkins. He also loved working with wood and spending time fishing with his family.

He is survived by his wife Edna of Egin; Children, Ronald Scott (Tekla) Staley of Howe, Idaho and Eric Ira (Micelle) Staley of Parker; Sisters, Melvena (Bill) Richards of Egin, Idaho and Janice Birch (Blaine- deceased) of Rexburg, Idaho; 8 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren;
He was preceded in death by his parents and one great grandchild, Justin Luthy.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Egin Bench Chapel. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Parker Cemetery under the direction of Bert Flamm Mortuary. Military rites will be provided by the St. Anthony Veterans and the Idaho Honor Guard.
