Obituary

Wayne Ross Kunz, 79, passed away Saturday, January 22, 2011. Ross, as he was known by family and friends, was born on December 19, 1931 to Alma Kunz and Mary Grover Kunz in Victor, Idaho. Ross grew up at the famous Alma's Lodge on the Teton River. He became a fishing guide on the river at a young age. He attended Idaho State University for several years. He left Teton valley for 12 years and lived in Florida and Las Vegas working as a heavy equipment operator and in Pocatello working as a lieutenant with the police department. Ross moved back to the valley in 1972 where he met and married Phyllis Warnberg Davis later that same year. He worked for Teton County Road and Bridge for 21 years and was known as the best grader operator in the area. People of the valley still lament the fact that Ross no longer mans that grader during the heavy winter snows.

Ross was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served throughout his life in various capacities. Ross has always been a good friend and family man. His large extended family has been source of joy for him and Phyllis. He was always so proud of his children and always had a kind word and praise for them. His grandchildren and great grandchildren will remember their days of fishing, working and picking huckleberries with him as some of their fondest memories. His relationship with Phyllis serves as a great example of his kind and loving nature. His merry smile, positive attitude and sense of humor will be dearly missed by all.

Ross is survived by his wife: Phyllis Warnberg Davis Kunz; children: William Ross Kunz (Jenny), Victor Alma Kunz, Dedie Marie Kunz (Craig), Robert Jay Davis (Connie), James K Davis (Lora), Jana Davis Gauruder (John); brothers and sisters: Janet Robison (Dale), Donna Seville (Don), Laron Kunz (Lorraine), Lyle Kunz (Gisela) and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: Children: Lawrence Wayne Kunz, Leo Dee Davis and Jaylyn Davis Mecham; brother: Bruce Kunz

Viewing from 5:30 - 7 pm Thursday, January 27th and Friday one hour prior to the services, both at the Victor church.
