Obituary

Ross Tout Parkinson, 88, passed away April 27th, 2025 from eventual long term complications associated with dementia. He resided at Life Care Center in Idaho Falls, Idaho for the past 15 months before his passing. He was born to Ross Doney Parkinson and Alice Tout Parkinson on February 28, 1937 in Rexburg,Idaho.

Ross was raised in Rexburg and attended school there up through grade 12 to graduation. From there he attended LDS business college in Salt Lake City, Utah.

At a very young age he was brought into the families large dry farming operation. He would not have had it any other way as that along with his desires for antique automobiles, especially Model T Fords, came to life. Upon his completion of business college he quickly went straight back into the farming operation. Through this operation he became acquainted with one of the hired men's daughters, Ruby Voss.

Within a few years of dating and courtship they were eventually married at the LDS Temple in Idaho Falls, Idaho on October 21, 1961. Shortly thereafter they were blessed with their first child, a girl, Shana Voss Parkinson. After a few more years they had their last child, a son, Darren Voss Parkinson. For many years they all 4 worked alongside each other on the family farm east of Rexburg with his brother Don, his wife Melba, and cousins Kathy and Allen. Many hired hands also accompanied the family with operations over the years. Ross had a very strong sense of perfection and brought it into the farming operations in all different forms. He was a master of making a straight furrow in the fields with the old track type tractors of years back. Along with his father and brother they received very numerous praise and awards for soil conservation and techniques to save valuable moisture and topsoil on the dry land farms. Eventually deep irrigation wells were drilled on the lower properties to allow for watering of the crops and eventual growing of potatoes. Most of the potato operation was rented out to various tenants over the years. The long winter months, after farming operations were ceased in the fall, allowed time for his other love. Antiques of all sorts, especially the love he had for the Ford Model T and A. Over the years he totally disassembled and reassembled two T's, an old Willys jeep, and lastly, an old doctor's horse driven buggy from the early 1900's to pristine original condition. Each one of these were restored to better than new factory condition with his very meticulous ways. Many other smaller antiques were also refurbished to excellent original condition. He loved to show the results of his countless hours of excellence on his cars and jeep at parades and car showings of all sorts. He will be greatly missed by the few that knew him well enough to know his caring and thoughtful ways.

Ross is survived by his daughter; Shana Parkinson of Pocatello, Idaho; his son, Darren (Gina) Parkinson of Idaho Falls, Idaho; 4 grandchildren, Kristina Leonardson, Tabitha Berger, Kyle Whitmore, and Taytum Kessinger; 4 great grandchildren, and sibling Hazel Parkinson of Butte, Mt.

He was preceded in death by his wife Ruby, his parents, sister Deon Coleman, brother Don Parkinson, sister in law Melba Furnace Parkinson, nephew Allen Parkinson, and a great grandchild Taylor Parkinson.

Private services for Ross by close friends and family only were conducted May 1st per his wishes at Flamm Funeral Home, Rexburg, Idaho. Interment was at Teton-Newdale Cemetery.
