Obituary

Royle Dee Erickson, 73 of Archer, passed away peacefully in his sleep, to join his beloved wife, January 4, 2013. Royle was born July 17,1939 in Smoot, Wyoming to Duard H. and Vera Hoopes Erickson. He was the youngest of six children.

In 1957 Royle graduated from Star Valley High School and then graduated from Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho in 1959.

While attending Ricks, he met Donna Hacking and they were married on August 21,1958.

Royle went on to receive his bachelors degree in elementary education from Utah State University. Many will remember "Mr. Erickson" from one of the thirty-five years he taught school in district 91, district 93 and Madison school district until he retired in 1996. He also taught Hunter's Education for sixteen years. Royle loved to hunt and was an excellent marksman. He also enjoyed riding horses, camping, chopping firewood and visiting and helping his friends and neighbors.

Royle could recite "Petey the Snake" without a hiss in the wrong place and the "ABC's" faster backwards from "ZYX". His "Erickson English" sprinkled with "criminy', "polecat", "mercy","holy buckets" and plenty of exaggeration, have kept people shaking their heads and chuckling wherever he want.

He is survived by eleven children; Deonn (Evan) Stott of Heber City, UT., Renee (Lane) Jensen of Sandy, UT., Annette (Todd) Tingey of Chandler, AZ., Janine (Brian) Balls of Weston, ID., Teresa Erickson of Draper, UT., Melinda (Randy) Rumsey of Egin, ID., Laura (Dave) Kelly of Roberts, ID., Nathan (Tiffany) Erickson of St. Anthony, ID., Seth (Megan) Erickson of Grant, ID., Mariann (Andrew) Martin of Rexburg, ID., and Don Erickson of St. Anthony, ID., a brother Blair (Alice) Erickson of Bedford, WY., and a sister Beth Hyde of Smithfield, UT., thirty-two grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Royle is preceded in death by his wife Donna Erickson, parents; Duard and Vera Erickson, two grandsons; Daniel Jensen and Zachary Tingey, two brothers and a sister.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at the Sunnydell LDS Chapel (201 West 8000 South) with Bishop Matt Taylor officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg and Wednesday at the church from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. prior to services.
