Ruby Young
Ruby Lorraine White Young, 83, of Plano, died Monday, April 25, 2011 at her home. She was born August 10, 1927 in Plano, Idaho, to John Thomas and Rada Hunter White. She attended school in Plano and graduated from Edmunds High School. She has lived in Plano her whole life.
She was a wonderful homemaker and mother. She was known for her cooking talent, especially for her carmels and pies.
She married her childhood sweetheart, Lorin Young on November 27, 1946 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
She has always been a faithful and active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She has been a Relief Society President, Young Women's President twice, Stake Primary Presidency as well as many other callings. Her favorite calling was teaching music to the primary children. With her husband, Lorin, they served a mission in the Eugene, Oregon Mission. They also enjoyed traveling extensively on six of seven continents.
She will be missed by her whole family. She will be remembered for cheerful attitude. Even through seven years of fighting with cancer, she hardly ever complained.
The family wishes to express gratitude to Alliance Hospice for their loving care especially Bonnie Myers and Tammy Sanders.
She is survived by her husband Lorin, her children, Mona (Jeffrey) Walters of Rexburg, Idaho, LaRae (Brent) Parker of Plano, Idaho, LuAnn (Scott) Wood of Newdale, Idaho, Cleve (Kathlene) Young of Rexburg, Idaho, Layne (Heather) Young of Draper, Utah, and Brian (Marisol) Young of Tracy, California, as well as 22 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, a step brother, two granddaughters and two great grandsons.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 28th at the Plano LDS Chapel, with Bishop Randy Brown officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg, and again from 10:00 to 10:45 at the church prior to services. Interment will be in the Plano Cemetery.
